Class bursary funds are endowed every year by the graduating class to The Balmoral Hall School Foundation. Starting in Grade 6, families have the opportunity to support their daughters’ class funds, although most fundraising occurs in Grade 11/12. As all donations are endowed, funds are never spent; rather, they are invested forever. Annual interest creates a bursary for a student to attend Balmoral Hall School who may not have been able to otherwise. This means that every year, forever, each class bursary fund will help a student in need.
Currently, one in five students receives some level of tuition support to attend Balmoral Hall School.
In Spring 2021, then-Grade 11 students held a plant sale in support of their Class of 2022 Bursary Fund. Starting in early March, Sophie Schwartz, Joanne Pham, and Lucy MacDougall, with the help of Ms Cloutier, Ms Osborne, and Mrs. Schwartz, put the school greenhouse to good use. The goal was to have a plant sale open to all members of the Balmoral Hall School community. Unfortunately, when remote learning was put into effect, this became impossible. Nonetheless, the COVID-19 pandemic did not stop students from holding their plant sale, as they ended up selling to employees only.
In the end, Mrs. Kamins generously offered to purchase any remaining plants to beautify the campus that our childcare students enjoyed all summer, bringing the total raised to more than $1,750.
The Class of 2022 has set a shining example for younger students with their hands-on approach to fundraising for their class bursary fund.
Last week, Grade 12 students were busy fulfilling sales of more than 325 cookie-decorating packages just in time for the holidays. Many buyers made donations, as well. All proceeds from this latest class fundraiser were matched dollar-for-dollar in support of the Class of 2022 Bursary Fund. Students are overwhelmed with gratitude!
Please consider honouring a graduate and supporting the next generation of BH girls with a donation. Give today, and your gift will double thanks to a generous matching gift! All gifts received by June 1, 2022 to the Class of 2022 Bursary Fund will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $25,000.
