Aynsley Baldwin graduated from Balmoral Hall in 1999, and went on to study at the University of British Columbia. After spending two years pursuing an education in physics, Aynsley altered course and completed a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Film Production. Since 2005, she has been working in the Vancouver film and TV industry in the field of post production. In 2010, Aynsley traveled to South India as a location sound recording artist on the independent feature documentary, The Backward Class, directed and produced by Madeleine Grant and co-produced by Jessica Cheung, both longtime friends from the UBC Film Program. Aynsley later took on the roles of editor, associate producer, and story consultant through the film's three-and-a-half-year editing process. The Backward Class enjoyed its World Premiere at the 2014 Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival where it was honoured with the Audience Choice Award. The film has since continued its festival run winning further awards, and was released theatrically earlier this year. Since completion on The Backward Class, Aynsley has continued her work in post production, as a wearer of many hats on numerous productions, both big and small. She is looking forward to editing her first dramatic feature, Wax Gasket, which is currently in development and, hopefully, shooting this fall.
We are excited to welcome Aynsley as keynote speaker at Closing Exercises on June 17 to address the graduates.
