The Class Bursary Fund is an amount of money presented every year by the graduating class to BH Foundation. The money raised goes towards bursaries that give students the opportunity to attend Balmoral Hall that they may not have had otherwise. Starting from Grade 6, it is up to the class to raise money for their class fund, though most of the fundraising is done in Grade 11/12. All donations are endowed, which means that money is never spent but rather invested forever. A portion of the interest generated each year is used as a bursary. This means that every year, forever, the class bursary fund will help a student in need.
As gardening season is finally here, Grade 11 students held a plant sale in support of their Class of 2022 Bursary Fund. Starting in early March, Sophie, Lucy, and I, with the help of Ms Cloutier, Ms Osborne, and Mrs. Schwartz put the school greenhouse to good use. The goal was to have a plant sale open to all members of the Balmoral Hall School community; however, when our classes went online, this became impossible. However, it did not stop us from holding our plant sale, as we ended up selling to employees only.
In the end, Mrs. Kamins generously offered to purchase any remaining plants to beautify the campus that our childcare students will enjoy all summer, bringing the total raised to $1,766.50! We wholeheartedly thank Mrs. Kamins and all employees who purchased plants to support our Class of 2022 Bursary Fund. We are excited to continue fundraising next year.
